Li Xi Meets with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu

On September 2, 2025, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection Li Xi met in Beijing with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, who is in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025 and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Li Xi noted that two days ago, President Xi Jinping held a fruitful meeting with President Mohamed Muizzu. China appreciates President Mohamed Muizzu's firm commitment to a friendly policy toward China, and stands ready to work with the Maldives to follow through on the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and build a China-Maldives community with a shared future. Li Xi introduced China's efforts in advancing Chinese modernization and strengthening full and rigorous Party self-governance, and expressed China's readiness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Maldives in relevant fields.

Mohamed Muizzu expressed his gratitude for President Xi Jinping's personal care and efforts in promoting the development of Maldives-China relations, stating that the Maldives and China have always respected and supported each other, and that the Maldives will continue to stand firmly with China. He looks forward to attending the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War tomorrow.
