XI'AN, June 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Belgian King Albert II visited the ancient Chinese capital of Xi'an Wednesday and met with Shaanxi governor Chen Deming.
King Albert said that Belgium hopes to further cooperation with Shaanxi in energy, trade, biotechnology and pharmacy. Chen told the king that Shaanxi has a broad market for energy, pharmacy, scientific research, education and machinery manufacturing. During the one-day stay in Xi'an, which is now the capital of northwestern China's Shaanxi Province, the royal couple saw the legendary life-sized terra-cotta warriors in the tomb of the first Chinese emperor. King Albert arrived in Beijing last Saturday for an eight-day state visit to China. This is the first China tour by a Belgian state head in the past 24 years. Besides Beijing and Xi'an, the king is scheduled to visit Shanghai and Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Enditem |
