On July 23rd, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Fei Shengchao attended and addressed in Namur the First Chinese Materials Conference and the Founding Meeting of the Global Association of Overseas Chinese Materials Scholars.

Ambassador Fei Shengchao said that materials science is the cornerstone for the progress of human civilization, which is also a core vehicle for China’s international cooperation. The founding of the Global Association of Overseas Chinese Materials Scholars is a milestone in the development of materials field. The cooperation between China and Belgium, China and the EU has a solid foundation. This conference offers an opportunity to further enhance communication and cooperation  in advancing development of materials technology.

The theme of the conference is Materials Frontier in the AI Era. Academician Bai Chunli of China Academy of Science and Rector Annick Castiaux from the University of Namur attended the opening Ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was hosted by Academician Su Baolian of the Royal Belgian Academy of Science and Academy of Europe. Nearly 450 experts and scholars from nearly 20 countries attended the meeting.
