Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao Attended and Addressed the Send-off Event for the Chengdu World Games Delegation

On June 18, the send-off event for the Belgian delegation to the 12th World Games in Chengdu was held at the China Cultural Center in Brussels. With the theme of “Beyond Boundaries, Connecting Hearts”, the event was attended by over 100 guests including Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao, Secretary-General of the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) Cédric Van Branteghem, as well as members of The World Games Delegation (Team Belgium).

Ambassador Fei Shengchao said he’s happy to join the delegation this evening to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and art, and to promote mutual learning and understanding among civilizations on the occasion of the inaugural International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. He said that the Games would demonstrate China’s commitment to a “technology-empowered, green and low-carbon”approach to hosting major events and to a future vision of “Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders”. 

As an athlete who once participated in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Mr. Cédric Van Branteghem noted that China has a rich culture and people with great hospitality. Hopefully everyone would enjoy the trip. 

The Belgian delegation consists of 120 people. Among them, 75 athletes will compete in 20 sports. During the event, members of Team Belgium visited the exhibition of tea culture, took part in activates related to intangible cultural heritage and enjoyed wonderful string quartet performance.
