Q: Recently, the VSSE (Belgian State Security) has published its annual report, falsely accusing China of “plagiarizing advanced technology” and “engaging in espionage and political interference”. This has been reported by some Belgian media. What is your comment on this? A: We have noted the relevant report. The VSSE has made groundless accusations against China without any factual basis and spread false information about China. Such acts are entirely unserious and highly irresponsible. The relevant content, riddled with subjective speculation and ideological prejudice, constitutes a malicious smear against China’s image. We express our strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this. The so-called “technology plagiarism”, “espionage” and “political interference” are out of thin air. The Chinese government has always adhered to the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs in developing friendly relations with other countries and seeking mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. We always require Chinese companies and citizens overseas to observe laws and regulations of the host countries. The Chinese side firmly opposes the groundless dissemination of false information, as well as words and actions that draw ideological lines and abuse the concept of national security. Malicious smears against China do not bring real security. On the contrary, China has put forward the Global Security Initiative and has actively contributed to improving global security governance and safeguarding world peace and stability. We urge the relevant authority to refrain from spreading rumors that slander China, to view China’s development and China-Belgium relations objectively, and to do more constructive work to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries. |
