On November 21, 2022, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Governor-General of Jamaica Patrick Allen on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping noted that Jamaica was among the first countries in the English-speaking Caribbean region to establish diplomatic relations with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, China-Jamaica relations have maintained good momentum of development, with deepening political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation and growing friendship between the two peoples. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Jamaica have stood together in mutual support in fighting the coronavirus, injecting fresh impetus into the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. Xi said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Jamaica relations, and is ready to work with Governor-General Allen to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point to deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, to jointly lead China-Jamaica strategic partnership to a new level and build a China-Jamaica community with a shared future in the new era.

Allen said that it is heartening to see that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the friendly relations between Jamaica and China have maintained sustained development with cooperation in various fields yielding remarkable results. Jamaica will continue to strengthen cooperation with China to further deepen bilateral strategic partnership.

On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council exchanged congratulatory messages with Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness. Li Keqiang said that Jamaica is an important cooperation partner of China in the Caribbean region. China is ready to work with Jamaica to further deepen and substantiate the China-Jamaica strategic partnership to bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Holness said that Jamaica highly appreciates China's valuable support for its economic growth and social development, and Jamaica stands ready to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation to ensure that the Jamaica-China strategic partnership will grow to the benefit of the two peoples.
