Premier Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam

On November 11, 2022 local time, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is in Phnom Penh for the Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation.

Li Keqiang noted that China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic cooperative partners. Both sides share extensive common interests, with broad prospects for the development of bilateral relations. Not long ago, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid a successful visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, and the two leaders reached important consensus. China attaches great importance to the development of China-Vietnam relations, and stands ready to work with Vietnam to maintain high-level exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, enhance exchanges and mutual learning, implement the consensus reached between the two sides, and promote the steady and sound development of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Li Keqiang noted that China and Vietnam have a solid foundation for cooperation. The two sides complement each other with relative advantages, and have a high level of industrial integration. The two sides should seize the opportunity of common development of both countries to deepen cooperation in infrastructure construction and other fields, and continue to upgrade the scale and level of bilateral trade to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. China optimizes the COVID-19 prevention and control measures as the situation evolves, and stands ready to improve the facilitation of customs clearance at borders, increase direct flights between China and Vietnam step by step, better facilitate personnel exchanges between the two sides, and actively provide convenience for Vietnamese students to return to their schools in China.

Li Keqiang stressed that China is ready to work with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries to deepen comprehensive strategic partnerships, help boost the economic and social development of regional countries and improve the well-being of the people, actively advance cooperation on maritime affairs, complete an early consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea, and send to the world a message of stability and development in the region.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Chinese side for its friendly reception for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China. He said that Vietnam always prioritizes developing relations with China in its foreign policy, and Vietnam supports China in playing a greater role in international arena. Vietnam stands ready to work with China to maintain high-level exchanges and interactions at various levels, and strengthen cooperation in such fields including economy and trade, investment, logistics, digital economy, green economy, and maritime economy. Vietnam is ready to deepen communication and coordination on international and regional affairs with China, properly manage differences, and promote further development of relations between the two parties and two countries.
