Li Keqiang Meets with General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong

On the morning of November 1, 2022, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who was on an official visit to China, at the Fanghua Garden of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Li Keqiang welcomed Nguyen Phu Trong for his visit to China and expressed, China and Vietnam are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners sharing extensive common interests. Yesterday General Secretary Xi Jinping held cordial, friendly and fruitful talks with you and reached comprehensive common grounds. General Secretary Xi Jinping also introduced the major points of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), making clear that China is ready to join hands with all other countries to promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the world. China attaches great importance to developing relations with Vietnam. As friendly neighbors, China and Vietnam should view our relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective, maintain high-level exchanges, enhance exchanges and mutual learning, and seek greater synergy between development strategies, so as to cope with uncertainties and instabilities in today's world with a stable China-Vietnam relationship.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is ready to work with Vietnam to implement the outcomes and common grounds reached by the two sides, and leverage the favorable conditions such as geographical proximity and complementary industrial advantages, so as to continuously upgrade bilateral economic and trade cooperation and accelerate efforts to advance cooperation in key areas. China is ready to import more marketable agricultural products from Vietnam and jointly ensure unimpeded trade at border ports between China and Vietnam.

Li Keqiang said that China attaches great importance to developing relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). As the Leaders' Meetings on East Asian Cooperation approaching, China is ready to work with ASEAN countries to consolidate good-neighborly friendship, push for more fruitful outcomes in cooperation in various fields, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea, so as to create a favorable environment for our development, and bring more benefits to the people in the region.

Nguyen Phu Trong said that he had cordial and friendly talks with General Secretary Xi Jinping the day before and a joint bilateral statement will be released. The talks have produced a number of common understandings and achieved many cooperation outcomes. This visit demonstrates the special friendship between Vietnam and China. Vietnam is ready to work with China to follow through on the consensus reached by the two sides, further enhance understanding, promote cooperation, seek common development, and strengthen the relationship featuring comradeship and brotherhood, so as to better benefit the two peoples with tangible cooperation results.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng were present at the meeting.
