Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of Pakistan

On November 2, 2022, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at request with Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who accompanied Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his visit to China, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wang Yi said, Prime Minister Shehbaz is among the first foreign heads of government to visit China after the successful 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). This speaks volumes about the uniqueness of China-Pakistan relations and the important place Pakistan has been put in China's overall diplomacy. General Secretary Xi Jinping was re-elected by a unanimous vote at the first plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. That will provide the most fundamental political guarantee for China to embark on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects. China's continuous development is a growing force for peace in the world and an increasing factor for global stability. In this process, China-Pakistan relations will gain new impetus and scale new heights.

Wang Yi noted, as Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Co-Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, you have long been committed to developing friendly relations with China and pursuing a friendly policy toward China. The Chinese side appreciates that. The time-tested friendship between China and Pakistan is a valuable strategic asset of the two countries, and building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future is a strategic choice made by the two countries.  We are grateful for Pakistan's long-term and firm support for China on issues concerning China's core interests. China will also continue to speak up for Pakistan and firmly support its legitimate demands and lawful rights and interests.

Wang Yi pointed out, China will continue its assistance for Pakistan's post-disaster reconstruction and will work with Pakistan to advance the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Hope the both sides will take the opportunity of the negotiation and signing of the enhanced version of the security work plan to raise the security cooperation between the two sides to a new level and provide a more comprehensive and reliable security environment for Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended congratulations on the successful  20th CPC National Congress. He said that the blueprint for China's development formulated by the 20th CPC National Congress will inject strong positive energy into promoting world peace and development. Developing amicable relations with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. This has become a broad consensus among political parties in Pakistan. Pakistan is committed to continuously injecting new impetus into Pakistan-China relations and advancing bilateral relations to new heights. Pakistan is firmly committed to the one-China policy, and firmly supports China on all issues involving China's core interests. Pakistan expects to further deepen Pakistan-China cooperation in various fields and will take all measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan.
