On November 1, 2022, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the rotating chairperson of the Council of Heads of the League of Arab States, on the convening of the 31st Summit of the Council of Heads of the League of Arab States (LAS) in Algiers.

Xi Jinping pointed out, the LAS is committed to seeking strength through unity in the Arab world, and actively advances peace and stability in the Middle East. It has made  unremitting efforts to uphold multilateralism and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. I appreciate that Algeria has long been committed to strengthening solidarity among the Arab states, safeguarded the developing countries’ legitimate rights and interests, and highly values the cooperation between China and the Arab states.

Xi Jinping emphasized, China has forged an everlasting and time-tested friendship with Algeria and other Arab states. In recent years, the two sides enjoy an increasingly consolidated political mutual trust, a further deepened and substantiated Belt and Road cooperation, and fruitful outcomes of practical cooperation in various fields. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and the Arab states have been supporting and helping each other in times of difficulty, thus set a model for South-South cooperation. China is willing to work with the Arab states,   continue the firm support to each other, to expand cooperation, and join hands in building a China-Arab community with a shared future for the new era, so as to jointly create a bright future for China-Arab relations and make contribution to world peace and development.
