2022-09-22 23:50

On September 21, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with French President's Diplomatic Advisor Emmanuel Bonne on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York.

Bonne briefed the views expounded by President Emmanuel Macron on the Ukraine crisis in his speech at the General Debate of the UN General Assembly. Bonne said that France attaches great importance to European security and stability and restoration of peace, and stands ready to maintain high-level exchanges and step up communication and coordination with China, and work together to end the conflict and promote peace.

Wang Yi said, China appreciates that President Macron once again publicly expressed opposition to a new Cold War, block and camp confrontation, and the world dividing. China supports France's active efforts to play good offices. China stands that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be safeguarded, and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter should be abided by. Both China and France stay committed to peace and hope that a ceasefire will be reached and the conflict will be ended as soon as possible through peace talks. In the face of the current crisis, we need to send a message together and fulfill our responsibilities as major countries and permanent members of the UN Security Council.
