On March 27, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) KP Sharma Oli in Kathmandu.

Wang Yi said, you are an old friend of the Chinese people. When you served as prime minister in 2019, President Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Nepal, achieving important outcomes and leading bilateral relations to new heights. Guided by this, the two sides have taken solid steps to advance cooperation and joined hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, boosting Nepal's economic recovery and development and bringing tangible benefits to the Nepali people.

Noting that China and Nepal are permanent friends and partners, Wang Yi said that China cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries, never interfered in Nepal's internal affairs, and always pursues a friendly policy towards Nepal. As a friendly neighbor and reliable partner of Nepal, China sincerely hopes that Nepal will maintain social and political stability, and China will continue to firmly support Nepal in safeguarding its sovereignty and national dignity, exploring a development path suited to its national conditions, and sticking to independent domestic and foreign policies.

Oli said, Nepal and China enjoy geographical proximity, cultural affinity, and time-honored friendship. He sincerely thanked China for its unreserved support for Nepal in safeguarding sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and for its selfless assistance for Nepal's economic and social development and its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Nepal will firmly adhere to the one-China principle, ensure sound implementation of the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal, take solid steps to advance Belt and Road cooperation, deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, and make joint efforts towards the goal of building the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network.

The two sides agreed to strengthen inter-party exchanges. Wang Yi said, the Communist Party of China (CPC) is rallying and leading the Chinese people to embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country. China's development means greater strength for peace and will bring new development opportunities to developing countries, especially China's neighbors including Nepal. Oli said, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) admires the outstanding achievements made by the CPC since its founding 100 years ago, praises the vitality of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and stands ready to strengthen experience-sharing on state government with China, so as to enhance the level of cooperation between the two parties and between the two countries.
