Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Attends Reception to Mark the Opening of Seychelles Embassy in China

On September 19, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun attended a reception marking the opening of the Seychelles embassy in China held at Beijing Hotel. Mr. Le Gall Philippe, Seychelles Ambassador to China, chaired the reception.

Foreign Minister of Seychelles Patrick Pillay, who made a special trip for the activities marking the opening of the embassy, delivered a speech. Pillay said the two countries have had friendly relations over the past three decades and the opening of the embassy is aimed at further upgrading bilateral friendly ties. Pillay expressed thanks for China's long-standing support and assistance for economic and social development of Seychelles.

Zhai, on behalf of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, extended congratulations on the opening of the embassy, adding that the relationship between the two countries can serve as a model for equal treatment, solidarity and mutual assistance between big and small countries. The opening of the Seychelles embassy in China shows the great importance attached by the Seychelles government to ties with China and will further strengthen bilateral cooperation and personnel exchanges to push forward pragmatic cooperation.
