On August 13, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Representative J. Dennis Hastert of Illinois, the former speaker of the House, and Representative John B. Shadegg of Arizona, who are visiting China at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC). Both sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. ties and other issues of common concern.
