Premier Wen Jiabao Meets with Outgoing and New Ambassadors to China as well as Guests of the International Union of Geological Sciences

On June 19, 2007, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council met with 21 outgoing and new ambassadors to China in the Great Hall of the People. Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui was also present at the meeting.

Wen thanked the outgoing ambassadors for their efforts to promote relations with China. He expressed welcome to the newly arrived ambassadors and hoped that the ambassadors would make their utmost efforts in their tenure to promote the friendly cooperation between China and their countries. He also said the Chinese government would offer support and assistance for the new ambassadors.

The outgoing ambassadors present at the meeting include: Ambassador of Cyprus to China Petros Kestoras, Ambassador of Luxemburg to China Marc Ungeheuer and Ambassador of Denmark to China Laurids Mikaelsen.

The newly arrived ambassadors include: Sudanese Ambassador to China Mirghani, French Ambassador to China Herve Ladous, Italian Ambassador to China Riccardo Sessa, Cambodian Ambassador to China Sysoda, Uruguayan Ambassador to China Almagro Lemes, Omani Ambassador to China Saadi, Zambian Ambassador to China Mwape, Peruvian Ambassador to China Jesus Jay Wu Luy, Chadian Ambassador to China Soungui, Australian Ambassador to China Geoffrey William Raby, Bolivian Ambassador to China Fernando Rodriguez, Kazakh Ambassador to China Ikram Adyrbekov, Seychellois Ambassador to China Le Gall Philippe, Thai Ambassador to China Rathakit Manathat, Surinamese Ambassador to China Mohamed Soerokarso, Zimbabwean Ambassador to China Shava, Ambassador-in-waiting of Sri Lanka to China Karunatilaka Amunugama and Ambassador-in-waiting of Mexico to China Jorge Guajardo.

On the same day, Wen also met in the Great Hall of the People with Zhang Hongren, chairman of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IGUS) and Peter T. Bobrowsky, IGUS Secretary General. Xu Shaoshi, Minister of Land and Resources was also present at the meeting.
