Living Budda and Tibetologists Visiting Belgium (2006-09-13)

On September 11th and 12nd, 2006, a delegation headed by Tsering Gyalpo, director of the Institute for Religious Studies of the Tibetan Academy of Social Sciences and JiaDeng. LuoRongXiangBa, living budda and executive council member of the Buddist Association of China visited Belgium.  
During the visit, the delegation met with Hendrik Daems, president of the External Relations Committee of Belgian Chamber of Representatives, and held talks respectively with Claire Kirschen, Dean of the Belgian Institute for Higher Chinese Studies and  former ambassador to China as well as Dr. Charles Willemen, Belgian Sinologist.  The delegation visited the Belgian Institute for Higher Chinese Studies and had a lunch with Edward Van Velthem, director of the International Department of Le Soir. The delegation introduced to the Belgian side the achievements that China's Tibetan Autonomous Region has made in recent years, in such fields as politics, economy, ethnic religion, regional autonomy, education & culture and environmental protection. The two sides also exchanged views on Tibet-concerning questions that interest various circles in Belgium.
With Belgium as the first leg of the its visit to Europe, the delegation would move on to visit the EU and Norway during September 13th to 19th.
