On December 16, 2024, the 6th China-Belgium Science and Technology Exchange Symposium was held in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao attended and addressed the event.

Ambassador Fei Shengchao pointed out that in face of increasingly severe global challenges such as climate change and food security, green and low-carbon development has become a global consensus. In recent years, China has actively embraced the philosophy of green development. By leveraging new quality productive forces to drive high-quality development, China has demonstrated the mission and responsibility of a major country in global climate governance, ecological civilization and sustainable development. Last month, COP29 was held in Azerbaijan, and China’s positive actions and contributions on climate change were highly recognized and appreciated by the international community. China is willing to work with Belgium and more international partners to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation, promote green technological innovation, and work together to create a better future for mankind.

The event was themed “Climate Change and Green Agriculture”, and more than 100 experts and representatives from the governments, scientific and technological community, and enterprises of China and Belgium participated in the symposium.
