On September 15, 2024, the Chinese Memories Mid-Autumn Festival Concert was held in Municipal Theater Mechelen. The concert was attended by over 400 guests including Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Mission to the European Union Amb. Zhu Jing, diplomats, representatives from Belgian political, business, cultural, and educational sectors, and Chinese compatriots in Belgium. Ambassador Fei noted in his speech that as a traditional Chinese festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes people’s aspiration for family reunion, harmony and a better life. Hopefully the common language of culture and music will help bring hearts and minds closer and promote people-to-people communication. This is the fourth time that Chinese Memories concert was staged in Belgium. With the accompaniment of Yangqin and string orchestra, the Chang’e Suite composed by Belgian musician Johan Famaey, and the Chinese poems A Spring Morning and Like A Dream sung by the two sopranos in Chinese won rounds of warm applause from the audience. Encore track The Moon Represents the Heart brought the concert to a successful conclusion. |
