On September 8, Colourful Shanghai: Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Haipai Calligraphy and Painting Masters opened at China Cultural Center in Brussels. The exhibition displays over 60 pieces of calligraphy and painting works by nine contemporary artists featuring Shanghai-style ink art and art style of famous Chinese calligrapher, painter, and seal artist Wu Changshuo. When visiting the exhibition, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao commended the beautiful artworks and expressed his hope that the exhibition will attract more visitors and share the unique beauty and charm of the Chinese culture. In his remarks, Counsellor Gao Wei from the Chinese Embassy in Belgium said that Chinese traditional calligraphy and painting are unique compared to western art, but they are similar in terms of thoughts and expressions. It is hoped that the exhibition will contribute to China-Belgium cultural exchanges. As one of the events to celebrate Mid-autumn Festival in 2024, the exhibition is supported by the Chinese Embassy in Belgium and organized by China Cultural Center, Shanghai Service Federation, and Wu Changshuo Art Research Association in Shanghai, with guidance provided by Information Office of Shanghai Municipality and Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism. |
