Remark by Spokesperson of the Embassy of China in Belgium on Xinjiang-Related False Media Report
2020-12-17 03:25

The Embassy of China in Belgium has taken note of recent hype-up of Xinjiang- and Uyghur-related untrue news reports published by some specific Belgian media, citing “forced labor” accusations fabricated by some anti-China organizations and distorting China’s governance and policy towards Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The news articles have stigmatized normal business operations of Chinese companies, including those companies producing masks and other medical supplies for fighting COVID-19. The Embassy expresses indignation and firm opposition. We would like to reiterate that so called “forced labor” is created out of thin air. It is a false charge that constitutes infringement of the basic right to work of Xinjiang people of all ethnicity, and it aims to deprive their rights to better lives through work and employment. Their insidious intentions have the support of no one and will not prevail. It is hoped that related media in Belgium reject ideological prejudices on China and respect the right to work of all ethnicity in Xinjiang.
