|Chinese Embassy in Belgium Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony on the 71st Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China|
On the morning of October 1st, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Belgium held a solemn flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. More than 20 people attended, among them heads of various segments of the Embassy, staff members, employees of Chinese enterprises, Chinese students and representatives of the overseas Chinese community in Belgium.
Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Cao Zhongming and all attendees stood in solemnity and sang in chorus the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China, the March of the Volunteers, as the five-star flag was raised slowly up the mast amid the autumn drizzle in Brussels.
Ambassador Cao Zhongming later spoke to the gathering. He remarked that today we congregated in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, brimming with pride in the country’s remarkable transformation and achievements over the past seven decades and more, as well as in what China as a nation has contributed to the progress of humanity over its long course of history . The Ambassador stressed that it is important to bear in mind the aspirations and missions of the journey no matter how long a way we have traversed. “Going forward, there will be many more adversities. We could only create a better future by striving forward with indomitable spirits.” The ambassador concluded by encouraging all to join together in solidarity and make continued efforts towards the national endeavor of realizing the Chinese dream and the great renewal of the Chinese nation.
