Xi Jinping Arrives in Brussels for His State Visit to Belgium and Visit to EU Headquarters

On March 30 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Brussels, starting his state visit to Belgium, as well as his visit to the EU headquarters.

Upon entering into the airspace of Belgium, two fighter jets of Belgian Royal Air Force ascended to escort Xi Jinping's special plane.

At around 9:15 am local time, the special plane landed at the Abelag Brussels Airport. Belgian Prime Minister Di Rupo welcomed Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan at the airport.

Xi Jinping expressed, I expect to have in-depth discussions with the state leaders of Belgium and extensive contacts with all walks of life through this visit, so as to enhance mutual understanding and friendship, to uplift the bilateral relations and to chart the course for the future development of bilateral relationship.At present, both China and EU are respectively at a crucial stage of their development, which presents new opportunities for China-EU relations. I am looking forward to have in-depth discussions with leaders of the EU on deepening the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership for mutual benefits and win-win results, so as to make joint efforts to raise China-EU relations to a new high.

H.E. Yang Yanyi, Ambassador and Head of Chinese Mission to the EU, and H.E. Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium greeted the delegation at the airport.

Xi Jinping left Dusseldorf for Brussels after his state visit to Germany. The governor of North Rhine-Westphalia Hannelore Kraft and other German officials saw him off at the airport as he left Dusseldorf.
