During her trip to China's Taiwan region, US House Speaker Pelosi argued that the visit was “an unequivocal statement that America stands with Taiwan”. This has once again excited the Taiwan authorities and the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces in the island. They thought they have another opportunity to ride on US coattails and held the wishful thinking of continuing to have foreign support. A few days ago, head of a Taipei representative office in Europe even brazenly claimed Taiwan as “a sovereign and independent state”.

Taiwan is part of China, a province of China. The self-acclaimed sovereign state is nothing but disinformation!

There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. Taiwan has belonged to China since ancient times. This statement has a sound basis in history and jurisprudence. Resolution 2758 adopted by the UN General Assembly is a political document encapsulating the one-China principle whose legal authority has been acknowledged worldwide. The one-China principle represents the universal consensus of the international community; it is consistent with the basic norms of international relations. Over 170 countries of the international community have voiced their staunch support for China's position on the Taiwan question through different means. This is strong proof that Taiwan's status as part of China rather than a state cannot be changed.

Taiwan belongs to China. What is the real motive behind US politicians to “stand with” a province of China? The “Taiwan independence” forces fantasizing about US standing with them will only meet a dead end!

History and facts have repeatedly shown that whomever the US politicians claim they are standing together with would become the targets of chaos and disaster. Because what the US politicians really care about is how to serve their own interests, how to “earn points” in domestic politics, and how to profiteer for military businesses. In the eyes of the US politicians, those whom they claim to “stand with” are no more than sheep or chess pieces that can be used and discarded at will. The “Taiwan independence” forces have sought US support for independence in disregard of national interest. This is like drinking poison to quench thirst and will only put them at a faster course to failure.

Those who forget their heritage, betray their motherland, and seek to split the country will come to no good end. If the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces do not mend their misguided ways and stop their wrongdoing before it is too late, then they will only end up with their doomed fate - shameful failure.
