Q&A by Spokesperson of Embassy of China in Belgium on Belgian Chamber of Representatives' Adoption of Hong Kong-related Resolution
2022-06-03 18:00

Q: On 2 June, the Belgian Chamber of Representatives adopted a Hong Kong-related resolution. What is your comment on this?

A: We strongly oppose the Belgian Chamber of Representatives' gross interference in China's domestic affairs and Hong Kong affairs with the so-called resolution. Hong Kong is part of China. What election system Hong Kong implements and what democracy development path it explores are completely China's domestic affairs, on which foreign countries are in no position to make wanton comments. The Chinese Government is firmly resolute and confident in fully, accurately implementing One Country, Two Systems, and in developing high-quality democracy that suits Hong Kong's realities. Hong Kong has been on a path of stability, tranquility, prosperity and development. No attempt to undermine Hong Kong's stability or impede its development will ever succeed. We urge the Belgian Chamber of Representatives to discard its wrong position, recognize the fact that is has been 25 years since Hong Kong's return to China, stop slandering and distorting the successful practice of One Country, Two Systems, and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's domestic affairs in any form, but do more things conducive to the development of China-Belgium relations.
