Reveal the True Face of the "Uyghur Tribunal"
2021-09-13 23:34

According to media reports, the so-called "Uyghur Tribunal", which is very active in speculating on Xinjiang issues, has enthusiastically proclaimed that it would hold another "hearing" on Xinjiang-related issues in the near future. People cannot help asking, is this institution really a legal "independent civil court" as it claims? Is the "witness" and "evidence" it seeks credible? In fact, as long as you do a little research online, you will find that the answer is obviously no.

Let us first understand two basic facts. First, the "Uyghur Tribunal" was established in the UK in the form of a private company limited by guarantee. It is a non-governmental civil organization and has nothing to do with the "law" or "court". Second, according to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and relevant cases in international law, the determination of the crime of genocide requires authoritative and strict legal procedures. No country, organization or individual has the qualification and power to arbitrarily determine that other countries have committed "genocide". The "Uyghur Tribunal" no matter what disguises it, as a civil society, has no say in this.

Then, knowing that its “trial” has no basis or effect in international law, why does the “Uyghur Tribunal” continue to engage in “hearings” to speculate on Xinjiang-related issues? What do they gain from this? The answer is obvious.

According to the information on the website of the "Uyghur Tribunal", the World Uyghur Congress funded by the United States is its largest funder, providing it with about 100,000 pounds of start-up funds. From the day it was born, the World Uyghur Congress has been stepping up its association with the UN-listed ETIM terrorist organization, and plotting violent, terrorist and separatist activities in Xinjiang. In addition, according to the US investigative reporting website Grey Zone, the World Uyghur Congress has received millions of dollars in funding from the National Democracy Foundation (NED). The political tendency and the connection of interests can be seen at a glance.

The World Uyghur Congress not only has murky funding sources, but its participants are also people with ulterior motives and who are recognized anti-China "professionals." "President" Jeoffrey Nice once served as the "President" of the so-called "Chinese Court" supported by "Falungong". His profession is to hype up other countries' human rights issues out of geopolitical purposes, and initiate false accusations. The so-called "experts" appearing in the "court" are mainly the Australian Institute of Strategic Policy, Adrian Zenz and other rumor-makers who have long slandered and smeared China. The so-called "witnesses" are "actors" repeatedly used by anti-China forces, including Gulzira Auelkhan, Sayragul Sauytbay, Dolkun Isa, etc. Their "testimony" is full of loopholes and even violates basic common sense. There is no independence or authenticity at all. As long as you search the Internet, you can easily spot the lies. As British human rights lawyer and arbitration expert Graham Perry said, the "Uyghur Tribunal" claimed to only "review evidence", but what it reviewed only relied on the "testimony" of East Turkistan elements who lived a comfortable life in the West. How can these people's words be convincing?

It can be seen that the so-called "Uyghur Tribunal" essentially treats anti-China as a business, providing a stage for anti-China separatists to direct and perform farce, and collect commissions from international anti-China forces by selling lies and false information about Xinjiang. It can be said that the "Uyghur Trbunal" has become a supplier in the Xinjiang-related "lie industry".

I believe that the eyes of the people of the world are discerning for such an anti-China company that deceives and deludes people in the guise of "court." The "court" has not received much attention on the Internet, and the crowdfunding initiated by it has received little effect. It can only survive on the "exclusive sponsorship" of the anti-China organization World Uyghur Congress. I believe that with more and more international voices looking at Xinjiang in an objective and fair manner, anti-China companies like the "Uyghur Tribunal" will eventually have no market and can only become a laughing stock.
